Attack of the midges!

Paddy and I spent the weekend up in the peaks for one last touch of the Gritstone before we set off on our travels and don't see it for another year! We set off Friday afternoon to arrive at the campsite by Stanage in the early evening only to be attacked by millions of midges who feasted on our tasty blood!

We spent both days climbing at Stanage popular end, which like the campsite, was midge infested... but at least wasn't too busy. We got some good fun routes in and, whilst the midges weren't biting, we had some good fun! Still lots of routes unticked so they will just have to wait 'til next time.

SKippy tip for life....

Don't put your passport in the washing machine... it's a bad, bad idea.

Bit of stress and 50 quid later... all sorted! Canada here I come :o)

Graduation fun!

What a fun day :-S ! Definitly one for the parents... though it was good fun to meet up with all my course buddies on our turf one last time! And we all got to look lovely and silly in our fetching gowns! lol - the sweltering heat made this somewhat less lovely!

The usual happened I think... had drinks/nibbles with department, donned our rather attractive attire, had pictures taken, strutted across stage, nodded at a wise-guy, shock hands with another, ate nibbles, consumed alcohol, went home! Not a bad day in the slightest... oh and not to miss out, sweating throughout!

Well it's all over now and the end of an era. Sad to finally say goodbye to my old, now empty, house and all the people who shared it with me... but hopefully we will all continue to stay in touch as we've had a brilliant time together :o) Same goes for all my uni buddies out there :o)

Polaris... hell or fun???

Blimey... I spent last weekend attempting to kill myself in the name of fun... the technique... riding a mountain bike in the Peak District a long way (on an SK scale) on two very very hot days (approaching, if not, 30c)!

The Polaris challenge (see here) is a whole orienteering on mountain bikes type event.

The first day we spent a lovely 7 hours cycling which by the end caused me extreme pain in tendons as well as cramp in every part of my body I thought possible! Pain, so much pain!

The second day was much nicer - only 3 or so hours.... although not fully recovered from the previous day... still hard work!

I did, despite the pain, have a really really good time and my sis and I didn't do too badly on the points table either :o) I must say I thought the downhill was wicked as was the beer tent :oP I will definitly be up for doing it again... though perhaps with some training beforehand next time!!
